Vision and Eye Care in Corozal

Corozal has several options for eye care at very low cost!

The group of eye specialists who became Benevolent Missions International has been coming to Belize to provide eyecare since 1986. They come two or three times a year, and provide many services, including eye surgery, free or nearly free. Their building is adjacent to the Corozal Community Hospital. See their page here.

Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI)

The Belize Council for the Visually Impaired (BCVI) is a dynamic non-governmental organization providing a wide variety of eye care for Belizeans at very low cost. They are active in screening for visual needs, offering glasses at a reasonable cost, and making referrals for more serious problems encountered. See their page here.

Rayjon Eyeglass Clinic 2011

The Rayjon Eyeglass Clinic Volunteers spent a week in Corozal Town in November of 2011 providing examinations and eyeglasses for the people of the Corozal District. The project took place at the Corozal Methodist Eye Clinic. See their page for more information.

Editors' note: We would like to express our gratitude for everyone at the Methodist Eye Center who graciously allowed us to take pictures and provide information requested. And many thanks to Mrs. Ismay Brooks for her years of tireless dedication to this project. Also, appreciation goes out to the folks at the BCVI who have always been cordial and helpful. And let us not forget ALL the Corozal volunteers who help make all these activities successful!
