The "Back in the Days" exhibit at the Corozal House of Culture was graciously donated by Grant D. Jones. Here's one paragraph of what he says about it.
"During 1867-1968 my wife, Mary Armistead-Jones and I spent nearly nine months in Corozal Town. During that period I carried out field research throughout the district as preparation for writing my doctoral thesis in cultural anthropology at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. The subject of my study was the impact of the sudden and rapid growth of small-farmer sugar cane production on the rural farming villages of the Corozal District. Nearly all the photographs in this exhibit were taken during this period."
If you are in Corozal, please drop by the Corozal House of Culture and see this unique exhibition. If you are not able to visit in person, we hope you enjoy this page!
