Corozal's Rigo Vellos Wins in Cancun

Sat 21 Dec 2013 — Last weekend, Corozal's Rigo Vellos took first place in a bodybuilding competition in Cancun. Congratulations, Rigo!

Last weekend Rigo Vellos was in Cancun representing Belize in the Mr. Temple competition and brought home first prize in a senior bodybuilding category.

Rigo lives in Corozal Town and manages his own gym, Spartans Fitness.

Corozal's Rigo Vellos Wins Title

Mon 4 Nov 2013 — On Nov. 1, Corozal's Rigo Vellos successfully defended his Mr. Belize title in Belize City.

Corozal's Rigo Vellos has successfully defended his Mr. Belize title for another year! Congratulations, Rigo!

Rigo started body building in 2009. He is no stranger to winning! He won the Fiesta Rama competition in Orange Walk four years straight. He won the Mr. Physique competition at Placencia for two consecutive years. He won Mr. Corozal for 3 straight years, 2011-2013. He won the Summer Muscle and Bikini Splash at Placencia this year.

Rigo lives in Corozal Town and manages his own gym, Spartans Fitness.

Sailing Courses Offered

Sat 22 Jun 2013 — Sailing Courses Being Offered

Andy Aspinall, Training Officer for the Belize Sailing Association, is once again offering a variety of courses for sailors of all ages, skills and water crafts. These courses will take place at Honey Camp Lagoon near Orange Walk Town throughout July and August, and even in to September and October. Courses are open to the general public.

Upon course completion you will be issued the appropriate certificate from BzSA. Many of the courses are two days or more and so you would need to camp out, return home every day, or stay overnight at a hotel nearby. The hotel is clean, well furnished and reasonably priced. Fifteen courses are being offered from July through October.

If you are a member of our Club and wish to camp send us a note, we do have some camping equipment that could be made available to members only. You would be responsible to return the equipment in good working order and repair or replace any damaged equipment.

Every one is encouraged to avail yourself of this opportunity. It is not often enough that we get opportunities such as this so close to home. For more details, please contact Andy at Email

Six-Aside Mayor's Cup 2010 - Continues May 6 and May 7

The Six-Aside Mayor's Cup Football tournament continues with games Thrusday and Friday, 6 and 7 May, Thursday and Friday at the Civic Center. The teams are composed of local businesses and organizations. Here's who will be playing Thursday and Friday.

Thursday 6 May 7:00 p.m. Fruta Bombers vs Golden Boys
8:15 p.m. Ministry of works vs Eagle Mustang
9:30 p.m. Medical Stallion vs Corozal Junior College

Friday 7 May
7:00 p.m. Social Security vs Belize Bank
8:15 p.m. Corozal Town Council vs Guiness
9:30 p.m. Fantastic Four vs Princess Casino

The teams playing for this year for the Mayors Cup 2010 tournament are: Coco-cola, Police Department, Ministry of Works, Social Security Board/BWEL Gas, Corozal Town Council, Princess Casino, Fruta Bomba, Belize Bank, St Francis Xavier Credit Union, Golden Princess Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, Teachers, and Emilio Amad.

There should be a lot of excitement as friends and family play each other for the prizes.
