"A nationwide clean-up campaign has been launched. A committee was put together by campaign sponsors Aldebaran Belize, an environmental group and Love FM to enlist the help of every Mayor in the country to ensure that every municipality is on board with this venture."
Mayor Hilberto Campos and Councilman Willie Cruz have begun to form a committee to encourage a spectacular clean-up campaign for Corozal Town!
This clean-up for the town has started way before the current national contest and you can see the results with the stores having bins on the streets for the garbage, trash cans every few yards, and bumper stickers to encourage this effort.
You will be informed on how you can participate in this campaign, and in the meantime, throw all your trash in a bin and clean up when and where you can.

On Saturday, 19 December, the Corozal Bay Representative, Hon. Pablo Marin, and the Mayor and the Corozal Town Council were on hand to help make Christmas special for the kids of Corozal Town. In addition to gifts of all kinds for the kids, refreshments were served. See dozens of pictures by clicking on the Gallery at the bottom of the webpage you will find when you click "For more …" below.
People lined the streets the night of December 20 for the parade sponsored by The Hon. Pablo Marin and the Town Council. Along with the Minister, His Worship Mayor Hilberto Campos and all the members of the Corozal Town Council were on floats to greet and throw toys and candy to the crowds.
People who live on non-paved streets may be glad to see the Town Council water truck making its rounds. Everyone knows how bad the dust gets this time of the year, especially on roads with a good bit of traffic. The dry season in Corozal is appropriately called the "dusty season." Watering the streets does help. This project is under the jurisdiction of Willie Cruz, Town Councillor, Sanitation and Health.
The members of the Corozal Community College of 1991 are trying to get in touch with everyone as they plan for their 20th Year Reunion in 2011. They have a website where all the 130 graduates are listed. Those who have signed in have given updates of where they are and what they are doing. You can go and find out who is where, and if you are a member, join and add your information. They are being hosted on a website called classcreator.com, and you can find the link for CCC here.
NICH brought a team of people with the Jade Head and other artifacts to Corozal on March 2, 2010.
The Jade Head is such an icon of Belize that it appears on the face of each denomination of paper money, right there with Her Majesty, The Queen! It's in the upper left corner.
A number of school classes as well as people of Corozal had the priviledge of viewing and hearing about the most significant Mayan discovery of Belize. Representatives of NICH were on hand to organize the viewing and give relevant talks to those attending. Corozal's own Darcy Correa, a CCC and CJC graduate talked all day long enlightening those who came. It was a great day for the town.
Here is where you can find more information about the Jade Head.

The Corozal Town Council has been offering local painters, photographers, sculptors, and wood carvers an opportunity to display their work, the second Saturday of each month at Central Park. There is no charge to participate. Interested persons can pick up a guideline sheet at the Town Hall. Last month there was a group of musicians performing and plenty of room for dancing, if you like. You might start thinking about what you want to buy someone for Christmas!
There are pictures from the October Art in the Park in our yearbook, and you can see them about half-way down this page: click here for October 10.
