Prevocational Training

Pre-vocational is a full time program offered to trainees who for some reason or the other were unable to successfully complete high school. Primary school graduates with high PSE scores can also be admitted into the program. The duration ranges from 1-2 years depending on how fast the trainee masters the skills. Trainees must be at least 14 years old to enter this program.

Courses offered in the pre-vocational program are English Language, Mathematics, Science, Trade Exploration and Computer Technology. Pre-vocational serves as a remedial program in order to adequately prepare the trainees to later enter the trade of their choice.

Trade Exploration is a very important subject whereby trainees are exposed, taught and given the opportunity to explore vocational skills in the full time trades offered at the Institute such as Cosmetology, Food Preparation, Carpentry, Electrical and Plumbing, and Agriculture. Limited knowledge is imparted to the trainees, but they get a first hand experience in order to decide on the trade of their choice.
