Corozal Town was given a respite on Independence Day by Mother Nature, and the ceremony and parade went on even though other parts of the country had cancellations due to the inclement weather.
The ceremony was held at the civic center, with Ravey Vellos serving as Master of Ceremony. On the program were Mayor Hilberto Campos, Representative Florencio Marin, Jr., and Methodist minister T. Kofia Niles. Also Representative Pablo Marin gave the main address, and Marguerite Cantareul gave the vote of thanks.
Representing the BDF, "Charley" Company was inspected by Rep. Pablo Marin, a group for Escuela Secondaria Tecnica Mexico gave a WELCOME presentation accompanied by the ESTM drum corps the new Miss Independence queen was crowned by the previous queen.
Thousands were on hand for the ceremony and parade, and hundreds participated in the Independence Day Parade. We have several select images here, and there are hundreds more in our YEARBOOK.
