The local Credit Union and the whole town mourns the loss of a person known to stand up for the rights of the people, and to offer the people of Corozal a valuable source of banking, loans, and security.
COEICH had a successful first Festival on 28 February at Miami Beach.
There was food for sale such as Tacari, Dahl roti and others. There were dancers performing, and people visited displays with information about the East Indian culture at the display booths.
The theme was "Retracing the Footsteps of Our Ancestors."

"A nationwide clean-up campaign has been launched. A committee was put together by campaign sponsors Aldebaran Belize, an environmental group and Love FM to enlist the help of every Mayor in the country to ensure that every municipality is on board with this venture."
Mayor Hilberto Campos and Councilman Willie Cruz have begun to form a committee to encourage a spectacular clean-up campaign for Corozal Town!
This clean-up for the town has started way before the current national contest and you can see the results with the stores having bins on the streets for the garbage, trash cans every few yards, and bumper stickers to encourage this effort.
You will be informed on how you can participate in this campaign, and in the meantime, throw all your trash in a bin and clean up when and where you can.
