On May 20, 2000, four of the artists were in Corozal for the opening of the exhibition, Art for the People. The are (left to right) Sergio Hoare, Yasser Musa (and his son), Gilvano Swasey, and Michael Gordon.
Art for the People, an exhibition by Belizean artists, was at the Corozal Museum and Cultural Center for several weeks during the summer of 2000. Yasser Musa, of the Image Factory, writes "…Art for the People is a pedagogical tour de force, connecting the outsider with that lost lane end into a reality that they partake in on a daily basis. The viewer is transported from eveyday experience into the reality the artist has recombined. They may find objects at once recognizable and familiar, yet foreign, because up to this point these magical readings of the ordinary were unseen. As well, they may encounter the outlandish, eccentric and acute."
